Deva Pardue
Creative Director at The Wing

Deva is a graphic designer originally from Ireland who came to New York to attend the School of Visual Arts where she graduated with her BFA in 2011. She is currently Creative Director at The Wing, a network of co-working and community spaces for Women. From 2012 to 2016 she worked at Pentagram in New York, under the direction of Emily Oberman. In 2016 Deva founded For All Womankind, a design initiative for Fempowerment.

Kelly Thorn & Spencer Charles
Proprietors at Charles & Thorn

Kelly Thorn and Spencer Charles are a husband and wife design team with complementary talents. Based in Brooklyn, they design custom logotypes, typefaces, lettering, and illustrations for a variety of clients. Spencer has taught Typography at the School of Visual Arts, served as Communication Judge for the Type Director’s Club 2017 Annual, and is a graduate of the Type@Cooper Extended program at the Cooper Union. Kelly graduated in 2012 from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, interned at Hallmark Cards in 2011, and then went on to work at Louise Fili Ltd from 2012–2015 in NYC. Kelly also gives hand-poked tattoos, which showcase her interest in illustrating plants, women, and bug-eyed critters.

Natasha Jen
Partner at Pentagram

Natasha Jen was born in Taipei, Taiwan and studied graphic design at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where she received her BFA with Honors in 2002. She joined Pentagram’s New York office as partner in April 2012. Natasha’s practice has been notable for crossing media genres, drawing on references from a diverse range of cultural, historical, aesthetic, and technological sources. Her clients have included Nike, Harvard Art Museums, Guggenheim Museum/Foundation, OMA, REX, Wexner Center for the Arts, Kate Spade, Target, Puma, Kiki de Montparnasse, SoHo/Tribeca Grand Hotels, AIGA, MIT Architecture, Vitra, NYU Kids at Langone, the Slought Foundation, Tess Giberson, AIA New Practices Committee, Chanel, Nuit Blanche New York, and Prism.

VP of Design at BuzzFeed

Cap Watkins in a product designer living & working in Brooklyn, NY and currently the VP of Design at BuzzFeed, as well as a blogger, podcast guest, conference speaker and lover of startups and technology. He believes in thoughtful, holistic design solutions that get out of the way and empower people to accomplish more. His past work includes Etsy, Zoosk, Formspring and hush-hush stuff at Amazon.

Saul Colt
Principle at The Idea Integration Company

Saul Colt is the Founder and Creative Director of The Idea Integration Company, an experiential marketing agency specializing in bold activations for recognizable brands. In his career he has been named as one of the iMEDIA 25: Internet Marketing Leaders & Innovators as well as been called one of Canada’s best community builders/experiential marketers and that message has been echoed by media properties ranging from Inc to Forbes Magazine. In his free time he collects Nike Air Force One sneakers, watches lots of Movies and just happens to be the Smartest Man in the World.

Kelli Anderson
Independent Designer

Kelli is an artist/designer and tinkerer who is always experimenting with new means of making images and experiences. She draws, photographs, cuts, prints, codes, and creates a variety of designed things for herself and others. From interactive paper to layered, experimental websites, everything begins and ends in her studio which houses a 1919 letterpress and an assortment of other benevolent contraptions.

Valerie Casey
Head of Design at Walmart

Valerie is head of design at Walmart, where she leads teams building digital and store experiences for customers and employees. Previously Valerie was Chief Product Officer for Samsung’s global venture arm, and has created dozens of market-leading products and services as an executive leader at IDEO, frog design, and Pentagram. She founded the global creative coalition, the Designers Accord, which is the largest multi-disciplinary group of designers, business leaders, and educators working together on social impact. Valerie is a graduate of Yale and Swarthmore College, a Fellow at the Aspen Institute and the World Economic Forum, and a frequent author, moderator, and speaker at Davos and other global thought-leadership gatherings.

James L. Lewis
Creative Director at The Ligature Collective

With a portfolio of international clients, 6 years of hand lettering experience, plus a list of workshops held worldwide, it's hard to believe James is only 22 years old. Currently working out of Cardiff, UK, James uses his graphic design skillset and passion for letters to produce hand lettered logos, full fonts, and typographic artworks. He believes in transparency and consistently shares his creative process through videos which has earned him a large social media following and millions of video views. James also spends time managing and working within the Ligature Collective, a collaborative branding agency which makes use of the members diverse talents, and his own social media knowledge to produce bespoke design solutions for businesses around the world.

Jason Mayden
CEO + Co-Founder of Super Heroic

During his 13+ year career at Nike, Mayden led and contributed to the creation of innovative sport performances products for athletes and cultural icons such as Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Derek Jeter, and Michael Jordan. In 2011, Mayden successfully received his Master’s in General Management and Social Innovation from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and shortly there after he returned to Nike as the Global Director of Innovation for Nike Digital Sport where he was responsible for the strategic investigation of new technologies and services, such as the Nike Fuel Band. Most recently, Jason was the VP of Design at Mark One, an IoT startup focusing on the intersection of consumption and behavior change. Mayden is also a d.Fellow and Media Designer at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford University, a frequent lecturer at Stanford University’s prestigious Graduate School of Business. In 2017 Jason launched his own brand, Super Heroic, a business focused on provided quality play performance footwear, apparel and technology for elementary school aged children. The brand is thriving and Jason is passionate about spreading the Super Heroic message.

Mariam Braimah
Product Designer at Netflix

Mariam is a product designer at Netflix helping shape the global non member user experience to drive customer growth & acquisition. She’s currently design lead for the company's mobile & desktop sign up efforts. For her 5 to 9 project, Mariam founded The Kimoyo Fellowship, an immersive learning program aimed at facilitating the cross-pollination of knowledge, ideas and shared experiences between leading tech industry professionals across the African diaspora. Prior to these roles, she headed a cross functional research and design team at public data tech startup, Inflection, and studied History of Art & Architecture at Harvard University.

Marguerite Zabar Mariscal
Creative Director and Chief of Staff at Momofuku

Marguerite Zabar Mariscal is the Creative Director and Chief of Staff at Momofuku. She's lived in New York City every year of her life except four majestic ones in Maine. Marguerite works across all of Momofuku's restaurants and departments to help drive the group's corporate strategy, conceptualize new projects, and ensure brand consistency in concepts, communications, and design.
